Pakistan’s army chief, Qatari chief of staff discuss regional security

ISLAMABAD: The chief of staff of Qatar’s armed forces, Lt. Gen. (Pilot) Salem Hamad Eqail Al-Nabet, called on Pakistan’s army chief General Syed Asim Munir on Thursday to discuss regional security and bilateral defense cooperation, the army’s media wing said.
Pakistan enjoys close defense and economic ties with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members, including Qatar. Last month, Pakistan’s military launched a two-week multinational military exercise aiming to further harness military relations with Qatar, Türkiye, and other friendly nations.
Al-Nabet met Munir at the army’s headquarters in Rawalpindi, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
“During the meeting matters of mutual & professional interest and regional security situation were discussed,” the ISPR said.
“COAS [chief of army staff] said Pakistan values its brotherly relations with Qatar and Pakistan Army also looks forward for enhanced defense and security cooperation with Qatar Armed Forces.”
Al-Nabet appreciated Pakistan Army’s efforts to maintain peace in the region and pledged to continue working for better relations between the two countries, the ISPR said.
