JEDDAH: A group of 20 students from King Abdulaziz University are taking part in a prestigious space science conference being held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.
Organized by the International Astronautical Federation, the 74th International Astronautical Congress 2023 will run until Oct. 6 under the title, “Global Challenges and Opportunities: Embracing Space.”
The five-day event provides an industry platform for global collaboration in the field of spaceflight and related sciences.
In a post on X, the Jeddah-based research university’s aerospace engineering department said: “The conference aims to discuss global and emerging trends in the space sector, review global experiences and developments, and build international partnerships between sectors and companies related to space.”
Among representatives of international space agencies and organizations, the conference has attracted more than 5,000 attendees and visitors from around the world.
The assembly meeting aims to tackle global challenges and delve into the untapped potential of outer space, for the benefit of humanity.
During the conference, the KAU students will get the opportunity to meet leading government and private-sector figures working in space sciences and technologies.
