RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority thwarted two attempts to smuggle 8,763 kilograms of the narcotic Shabu, a term for the drug methamphetamine.
The drugs were confiscated by customs at the Al-Batha and King Khalid International Airport outlets.
Customs at Al-Batha seized 6,497 kilograms of shabu that were found hidden inside a private vehicle’s roof.
While at the airport, 2,266 kilograms of shabu were found in the possession of a passenger who arrived in Kingdom.
The authorities have also coordinated with the General Directorate to ensure the arrest of those who were awaiting to receive the seized drugs. It said it arrested four in connection to the case.
