SAMI to locally manufacture software-defined radio systems

RIYADH: The Saudi Military Industries Co. has partnered with the Royal Saudi Land Forces and the General Authority for Military Industries to set up a production line for software-defined radio systems at the Advanced Electronics Co.’s facility.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, SAMI CEO Walid bin Abdul Majeed Abu Khaled confirmed the role of this partnership in strengthening relations with L3Harris, a world leader in defense industries.

The official said the project plays a fundamental role in achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to support the localization of 50 percent of its defense spending.

He said the project will enhance local content and continuous partnership with the Royal Saudi Land Forces. With this move, SAMI will also provide the latest technologies and develop local talents and capabilities through this strategic project.

Advanced Electronics Co. CEO Ziyad bin Hammoud Al-Musallam also affirmed his commitment to developing the defense manufacturing sector.

He said such strategic partnerships will realize the ambitions of localizing technologies for defense industries.
