RIYADH: The second Youth Summer Program, held at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, or Ithra, concluded recently having seen talented teens showcase their creative ideas.

Of the 30 attendees, six were selected by an evaluation committee to contribute and engage with a whole year of projects across various cultural fields.

Nouf Al-Jamea, head of learning programs at Ithra, said that the four-week program provided the youth with in-depth insights and some hands-on experience working within a context related to their personal interests.

The program seeks to enhance each participant’s ability to combine theoretical knowledge with technical know-how to form future professional skills and give them experience networking within the framework of the creative and cultural industries.

Al-Jamea noted that the program included cultural trips to destinations that linked between aspects of creativity and the cultural thought industry.

Participants were introduced to different arts such as cinema, music, museums and libraries and took part in field trips, visiting Al-Ahsa Oasis, Jabal Al-Qarah and the Princes’ School in coordination with the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts.

The participants presented their final outputs, after completing 150 hours of training and more than 55 educational experiences under the supervision of 20 experts.

The summer program concluded with a tour inside the exhibition held at Ithra Plaza, with the participation of the families of the participants.

The families stressed the importance of the program’s agenda as it contributes to advancing cultural mobility and developing the capabilities of young people in the creative fields.
