RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet on Tuesday said it looks forward to a new phase of Saudi-Iranian relations based on common interests and mutual respect.
The comments came after Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian visited the Kingdom for the first time on Thursday following a reconciliation between the two countries in March.
The Cabinet said it is following the steps taken toward implementing the agreement to resume diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and Iran including the ambassadors of the two countries carrying out their duties.
The Cabinet was also briefed on the content of a recent phone call between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during which they reviewed aspects of joint cooperation and exchanged views on regional and international developments.
It also approved a law concerning the rights of people with disabilities.
