DUBAI: Palestinian Chilean singer Elyanna performed a sold out gig in Los Angeles this week, soon after her headline-making performance at California’s Coachella music festival.

The music sensation performed to a packed audience at the El Rey Theatre, which she sold out a few days after announcing her gig.

Elyanna first announced that her concert was going to take place at the Roxy Theater, but due to “overwhelming” ticket demand for her show, she had to change the venue to a bigger theater.

She opted for a white outfit and kept her blonde locks curly.

The rising star sang some of her hits, including “Ghareed Alay,” “Ala Bali,” “Ana Lahale” and the recently released “Mama Eh.”

She also sang songs by other artists including Egyptian superstar Amr Diab’s “Tamally Maak,” veteran singer Abdel Halim’s “Ahwak” and Saudi singer Abdulrahman Mohammed’s “Asabaka Eshq.”

Elyanna was joined on stage by dancers, a dabke crew and at some point Canadian Lebanese singer Massari, who performed with her his song “Real Love.”

Elyanna’s fans shared clips of her show on their Instagram Stories.

“To say I’m obsessed with this rising Palestinian superstar would be an understatement. You don’t even have to understand the music to vibe, I only know like three words,” shared one fan on Instagram.

“Said it at Coachella and will say it again: Elyanna is a superstar,” said another supporter.

She also received comments praising her voice: “Heavenly voice, so proud of you Elyanna,” “Such an amazing performance” and “The future is Elyanna.”

The Los Angeles-based musician has been normalizing Arabic lyrics throughout her career, taking inspiration from many artists, including Lana Del Ray and Beyonce, as well as Middle Eastern legends such as Fayrouz.

In April, the star made history as the first artist to perform a full set in Arabic at Coachella, the famed music festival held annually in California.

In a previous interview with Arab News, she said: “We are introducing a new culture and we are making sure that everybody hears us, everywhere from all around the world.”

Elyanna’s music is a mix of Arabic and Western beats, something that the singer attributes to her multinational upbringing.
