MAKKAH: The ceremony of cleaning the Holy Kaaba was carried out on Tuesday by the Deputy Emir of Makkah Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdel Aziz, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Emir was received at the Grand Mosque by Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, chief of the Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, as well as other officials.
During the annual customary washing of the Kaaba, participants wash the walls of the holy structure using a piece of cloth dipped in Zamzam water and mixed with rose water, oud as well as other perfumes.
Earlier, the General Presidency has raised the lower part of the kiswa in preparation for the washing process.
They also held a virtual exhibition to display the tools used to wash the Kaaba, enriching the experience of worshippers who come to pray at the two holy mosques in Makkah and Madinah.
