UN maritime agency delegation visits Jeddah university

RIYADH: A delegation from the International Maritime Organization recently visited King Abdulaziz University’s marine sciences faculty in Jeddah.

The party from the UN specialist agency was welcomed by faculty dean, Dr. Faisal bin Wahes Al-Thibiani, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The visit was aimed at further strengthening links between the IMO and the faculty by broadening cooperation in the maritime sector and improving the effectiveness of regulations in line with international agreements.

As part of the visit, the delegation was given a presentation highlighting the programs, objectives, and capabilities of the faculty along with a tour of the command, engine, control and machinery rooms, navigation systems simulator, marine communications area, lifeboat platform, firefighting simulator, and marine engineering workshop.
