DUBAI: Italian opera house Teatro San Carlo, the oldest active opera venue in the world, is hosting a performance in Egypt at the Pyramids of Giza on Oct. 11.
It will be the first time that stars from the Teatro San Carlo, which was inaugurated in 1737, will perform in Egypt. The Giza performance will be the opera house’s first overseas event since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The concert, touted as “the biggest Italian event ever in Egypt,” was announced this week by Italian Ambassador to Egypt Michele Quaroni and Egyptian Tourism Authority CEO Amr El-Kady.
The event aims to strengthen economic and tourism ties between the two countries.
