Who’s Who: Sheikh Yusuf bin Saeed, member of the Council of Senior Scholars

Sheikh Yusuf bin Saeed has been a member of the Council of Senior Scholars since 2020.

He is assigned as the imam and preacher who will deliver this year’s Hajj Arafat sermon.

Sheikh Yusuf was an associate professor of faith and contemporary doctrine at Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University, Riyadh, in 2006. Before that, he was the head of the same department in 2002.  

He joined the university as a lecturer in 1995 before becoming the undersecretary of the department of faith and contemporary doctrine in 1997.

At the university, Sheikh Yusuf is a member of the doctoral thesis examination committee, the scientific research deanship council, and the council of the deanship of postgraduate studies.

He supervised and discussed many scientific theses with other universities, namely, King Saud University, Umm Al-Qura University, Islamic University of Madinah, Taibah University, the University of Dammam (now Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University), and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.

He also participated in the seminars held at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, in addition to others that were held in cooperation with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

Sheikh Yusuf holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the College of Fundamentals of Religion at Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University.

He obtained a Ph.D. from the same university with his thesis titled, “Opinions of Islamic sects listed under the books of Ibn Taymiyyah, Sheikh Al-Islam, and the methodology he adopted in presenting them — the Jahmiyyah and the Mu’tazilah,” which he submitted in 1997.
