- Saudi Ministry of Health ‘bids farewell’ to COVID-19
- The campaign follows the World Health Organization’s declaration of the end of the COVID-19 pandemic as a global health emergency
RIYADH: The Saudi Ministry of Health “bids farewell” to COVID-19 with the “Maa Al Salama” (Arabic for “Goodbye”) awareness campaign, launched to inspire people to continue living their lives with more awareness and safety.
The campaign follows the World Health Organization’s declaration of the end of the COVID-19 pandemic as a global health emergency and the lifting of precautionary measures for travel in the Kingdom.
The ministry explained that the end of the pandemic does not mean the end of COVID-19 as a health threat, especially to groups that are most vulnerable, such as the elderly and those with chronic diseases.
It thus affirmed its adherence to important preventive measures, such as maintaining personal hygiene, practicing sneezing etiquette, and commitment, especially in the event of infection with a viral disease, to preserving the health gains acquired over the course of the pandemic.
Saudi health authorities praised the pioneering example set by the Kingdom and the role played by members of Saudi society in confronting the pandemic through their vigilance, vaccine uptake and dedication to following precautionary measures.
