RIYADH: More than 16,000 Iraqi pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia via the Arar border crossing in the Northern Borders Region since the start of this year’s Hajj season, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.

The province’s Hajj committee, supervised by Northern Borders Region Gov. Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Sultan, has been working to streamline medical and other services to allow worshippers to perform their rituals with ease and comfort.

At least 100 volunteers have been drafted in to help pilgrims, particularly the elderly and disabled, entering the country.
