Young Saudi fencers secure medals at U-20 fencing championship

ALKHOBAR: The best of Saudi Arabia’s young fencers were crowned champions at the Kingdom’s U-20 Fencing Championship, which was held in Prince Saud bin Jalawi Sports City in Alkhobar over the weekend.

Muhammad Bu Ali, vice-president of the Saudi Fencing Federation, crowned the winners in the presence of Wasim Al-Hassan, a member of the federation’s board of directors.

Al-Nassr’s Ibrahim Al-Hudaib won the gold medal in the foil category, with Saud Al-Rushd of the same club securing a silver medal and Muhammad Ragheb of Al-Hilal and Mahdi Al-Qarous from Al-Nour club sharing third.

In the epee category, Hussein Al-Taweel of Al-Huda came out on top, as he beat Hassan Abed from Al-Nahda, who came second, and Ahmed Al-Faihani of Al-Jazeera and Ahmed Hazazy of Al-Hilal, who got the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, Abdullah Al-Mansaf of Al-Adalah won gold in the sabre competition, beating Ziyad Al-Mutairi from Al-Ittihad in the final, with Ali Al-Sheikh of Al-Omran and Muhammad Al-Amro from Al-Nassr completing the podium spots.
