DUBAI: “Moon Knight” star May Calamawy is joining the cast of Paramount’s sequel to the Oscar-winning hit “Gladiator.”
The Egyptian Palestinian actress will star alongside Irish actor Paul Mescal; US star Denzel Washington; Chilean-born American actor Pedro Pascal; British actors Joseph Quinn, Derek Jacobi and Matt Lucas; Danish actress Connie Nielsen and Ghanian actor Peter Mensah.
The movie, set for release on Nov. 22, 2024, will be directed by British filmmaker Ridley Scott and penned by US screenwriter David Scarpa.
Calamawy’s breakout role came in Marvel Studios’ “Moon Knight” series, in which she starred opposite Oscar Isaac.
She is also famous for her roles in Duke Johnson’s “The Actor” and the award-winning Hulu show “Ramy.”
