RIYADH: The Afro-Asian Chess Association announced on Monday the appointment of Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, as honorary president of the group.
The appointment came on the sidelines of AACA’s general meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of the Asian Continental President Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifah Al-Nahyan.
Alalshikh expressed his appreciation for the appointment in a post on Twitter.
During the meeting, a deputy president, vice presidents, board members and a general secretary were also appointed.
The Afro-Asian Chess Association was established in 2010, with headquarters in Cairo, and includes all the member states of the two continents.
