RIYADH: Saleh Al-Jasser, the Saudi minister of transport, and Won Hee-Ryong, the Korean minister of land, infrastructure and transport, have signed two memorandums of understanding relating to innovation in the roads infrastructure, transportation and logistics sector, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
The first agreement calls for collaboration on the adoption of advanced, sustainable-energy transportation technologies, and on identifying areas of expertise for cooperation in innovation, research and development. The nations will also coordinate on the development of legislation for self-driving vehicles, and share their experiences in aviation and airport infrastructure.
Under the second agreement, the ministries will establish a joint road research center and share experiences in roads construction, asset management, operation and maintenance, and road safety.
