DUBAI: Princess of Wales Kate Middleton was spotted wearing the Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings in London as she met well-wishers outside Buckingham Palace on Friday ahead of Saturday’s coronation event, where King Charles III will officially be crowned.

The earrings feature round diamond studs, with baguette-cut diamonds in an arrangement typical of the late 1940s, as well as pearls.

The earrings were crafted using two of the seven pearls Queen Elizabeth II received as a wedding gift from Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa of Bahrain in 1947.

Middleton wore a white pencil dress with black detailing around the neck and waist. She topped off her look with black pointy-toed heels.

Wearing traditional all-black attire, she paid tribute to the queen in September by opting for pearls that belonged to the queen. (AFP)

This is not the first time the princess has donned the precious earrings.

She previously wore the set to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September as pearls are typically seen as mourning jewels in British royal etiquette.
