ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s state minister for foreign affairs Hina Rabbani Khar instructed her country’s ambassador-designate to Saudi Arabia to take care of Pakistani nationals while holding a meeting with him on Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia is home to over two million Pakistanis, making the kingdom the largest contributor to the remittance inflows of their country.

The Saudi authorities have also helped Pakistan deal with its ongoing economic crisis by offering it deferred oil payment facility and depositing about $3 billion in its central bank to shore up its forex reserves.

“[Minister of State] @HinaRKhar met [Pakistan’s] Ambassador-designate to [the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia]; expressed confidence that his appointment will further strengthen close fraternal [Pakistan-Saudi Arabia] ties; also urged the envoy to extend full [cooperation] to our Diaspora in [Saudi Arabia],” the foreign office said in a Twitter post.

The foreign office also shared the minister’s photograph with Ambassador Ahmed Farooq, the country’s new envoy to Riyadh.
