Madhawi A. AlOmran is the first woman to become an assistant deputy minister at the Saudi Ministry of Investment.
With around 13 years of experience, AlOmran has held several executive positions in the public and private sectors, accomplishing remarkable outcomes in macroeconomic and fiscal policy development, investment, and banking and financial services. She is highly skilled in planning and implementing economic development functions, budgeting, management, and building economic models and forecasting.
AlOmran joined the Ministry of Investment in February 2021 as general manager of economic analysis and advisory, later being promoted to assistant deputy minister of economic affairs and investment studies in November 2022. In her current role she oversees economic analysis, studies, impact assessment and modeling, in addition to developing and publishing periodic reports and representing the ministry at top discussions and committees domestically and abroad.
Before that, AlOmran joined the Ministry of Finance in July 2016 as part of the establishing team of its Macro Fiscal Policy Unit, progressing in different roles until she was assigned the post of acting general manager of macroeconomic analysis in the MFPU. She covered the real, monetary, external, and international economy sectors, in addition to economic modeling and evaluating new and existing economic and fiscal policies.
AlOmran also worked in different roles at Princess Norah Bint Abdulrahman University between 2012 and 2016, and at the National Commercial Bank between 2009 and 2012.
In addition, as part of her efforts to achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, she has participated in several national projects and plans, leading the work to subscribe Saudi Arabia to the International Monetary Fund’s Special Data Dissemination Standard, establishing all the economic indicators and forecasts in the medium-term macro-fiscal framework and generating the economic forecast and analysis for budget statements since the 2018 budget.
AlOmran holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in economics from King Saud University, and has also completed a number of relevant leadership courses, coaching levels and technical certificates.
