RIYADH: A Saudi humanitarian relief flight carrying more than 86 tons of shelter materials arrived on Tuesday at Gaziantep Airport in Turkiye.
The aid includes 1,700 tents, 10,800 winter bags, 2,520 mattresses and 1,800 blankets.
It is part of ongoing efforts by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to help those affected by the devastating earthquake that hit parts of northern Syria and southern Turkiye in February, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
To date, the Kingdom has sent 16 aircraft carrying aid to help international humanitarian efforts.
On Monday, Saudi Arabia also sent its 15th relief plane to Turkiye carrying more than 85 tons of aid, including 1,000 shelter tents, 13,329 articles of clothing, 3,600 blankets, and 3,600 mattresses.
Over 55,000 people in the two countries were killed in the earthquake, and many more were injured or left homeless.
Saudi teams were among the first foreign responders to reach the affected areas hours after the tremor struck. KSrelief quickly established an air bridge to send planeloads of aid to both countries.
More than 4,200 Saudi medics have volunteered to help quake survivors in Turkiye and Syria.
KSrelief has launched a national campaign to help the earthquake victims in Syria and Turkiye through the Sahem platform, which has so far raised more than SR481 million ($128 million) from over 2.2 million donors.
