LONDON: Rumaih Al-Rumaih, acting chairman of the Saudi Transport General Authority, signed an agreement with Kitak Lim, secretary-general of the International Maritime Organization, in London.

The meeting aimed to support the IMO Cares project as part of international efforts to enable modern technologies in the maritime sector.

Joint efforts with the IMO to protect the marine environment and preserve natural resources are also supported by the project.

The project includes the Global Marine Technology Hackathon, which organizes workshops, and research work on innovation in marine technologies, and also publishes bulletins and reports on the state of the maritime sector.

The efforts come as an extension of the Kingdom’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
