ISLAMABAD: Lahore Qalandars secured yet another victory in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) championship after its bowlers defended a relatively low total of 180 and beat Multan Sultans by 21 runs at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

Sultans opening pair, Shan Masood (19) and Mohammad Rizwan (30), were fast and fiery while chasing the 181-run target but were dismissed when their team was on 64 runs.

Usama Mir (17), Rilee Rossouw (12) and Kieron Pollard (39) tried to offer stability to their team but found it difficult to deal with Lahore's bowling attack.

Even as Sultans only lost seven wickets by the end of the match, they were not allowed to go beyond 159 by the rival squad.

Qalandar's Rashid Khan was the most successful bowler who took three wickets for 15 runs.

Khan was also declared player of the match for his outstanding performance.

Earlier, Qalandars won the toss and elected to bat, though they suffered an early setback when their star batter Fakhar Zaman was caught by Usama Mir in the first over without scoring a run.

Abdullah Shafique (48 off 35) and Sam Billings (54 off 35) tried to rescue their team which endured a sudden batting collapse after the departure of the two batters in the 15th over.

Qalandars had scored 140 at that point and the rest of the batters could only contribute 40 more runs in the last five overs.

Lahore now boast of five back-to-back victories in the tournament and continue to be on top of the PSL points table.
