ABU DHABI: The UAE has condemned Israeli Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich after he called for the destruction of the Palestinian village of Huwara.

The country’s foreign ministry said the UAE rejected all practices and behaviors that are incompatible with moral and human values and principles, the Emirates News Agency reported.

It said hate speech and violence must be confronted and the values of tolerance and human coexistence promoted to reduce escalation and instability in the region.

The ministry said it supported all regional and international efforts to advance the Middle East Peace Process, put an end to illegal practices that jeopardize the two-state solution, and establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders.
