ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi on Friday released a teaser for its official anthem ahead of this year’s Twenty20 cricket tournament which is scheduled to begin in Multan city from next week.

PSL anthems have remained integral to the country’s most popular cricket contest since its inception several years ago. Each year, PSL releases its own official song while all the teams participating in the tournament compose their individual anthems as well.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the theme of the song serves to be a source of inspiration and motivation, with the lyrics and music aimed at uplifting the mood of the fans as well as the nation.

“Here is the first teaser for ‘Zalmi Azmari’ — Peshawar Zalmi’s Official Regional Anthem for [PSL 8] By Jaam Boys [featuring] Junaid and Arsalan,” the franchise announced in a Twitter post on Friday.

The upbeat music has been produced by a fusion of local instruments and electric guitar.

The official video of the anthem also showed performers displaying Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s traditional Khattak Attan dance.

Last year, Zalmi’s official anthem “Aaya Zalmi,” which the franchise said symbolized the “metaphorical representation of life,” featured singers Zar Sanga, SKD, Zoha, Zara, and Tayyab, while its official video included actor Mahira Khan.
