RIYADH: A Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance pavilion at the 54th Cairo International Book Fair has recorded a huge turnout of visitors from around the world.
According to statistics, the pavilion received more than 500,000 visitors between Jan. 25 and Feb. 4 and handed out 50,000 copies of the Holy Qur’an as gifts.
The fair, which was held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center and ended on Monday, brought together more than 1,000 publishers and people from 50 countries. At least 500 cultural events were held on the sidelines of the gathering.
The pavilion included an area dedicated to the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Qur’an in Madinah, explaining the printing stages, and containing a variety of publications of the Qur’an and copies of translations into more than 76 languages.
It also reviewed e-applications and display monitors for the ministry’s programs and technological projects, such as a virtual program to teach the rituals of Hajj and Umrah, the correct citation apps, and the Makkah exhibition for manuscripts.
The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives took part in the book fair too, its pavilion showcasing scientific, cultural, and intellectual publications to highlight the history, geography, and heritage of the Arabian Peninsula and Saudi Arabia.
