ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board came to skipper Babar Azam’s rescue on Tuesday after some videos and intimate chats that allegedly involved him with a girl surfaced online and were subsequently picked up by various publications that wrote about them.
The Pakistan cricket legend is already said to be under pressure after his team lost a string of Test and One Day International (ODI) matches recently. Media reports also claimed Azam could lose his job as Test captain.
Responding to a Twitter post by Fox Cricket, an online sports magazine, which said the Pakistani skipper was accused of “sexting a teammate’s girlfriend,” the PCB came to Azam’s defense.
“As our media partner, you might have considered ignoring such unsubstantiated personal allegations which Babar Azam has not deemed worthy of a response,” it said in a brief post.
Fox Cricket deleted the Tweet soon after the PCB response.
Meanwhile, there was mixed social media reaction to the story, as many of Azam’s fans came to his rescue while others criticized him after watching the multimedia content.
