- A debate on ‘The Right to Family Life: Islamic and Human Rights Perspectives to Counter Challenges to the Institution of Marriage’ will be held on Dec. 18
JEDDAH: Family life and the institution of marriage are to be discussed at the next meeting in Jeddah of the human rights arm of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The 20th regular session of the OIC’s Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission takes place between Dec. 18-22. It will be attended by all member and observer states, experts from relevant international and regional organizations and senior officials of the OIC General Secretariat.
A debate on ‘The Right to Family Life: Islamic and Human Rights Perspectives to Counter Challenges to the Institution of Marriage’ will be held on Dec. 18.
Majed Al-Ghanmi, vice minister of human resources and social development and Hissein Brahmin Taha, secretary-general of the OIC, will inaugurate the session and debate.
The key recommendations of participants will be finalized by the commission in an outcome document.
The session agenda also includes the civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights in the OIC member states, human rights violations in Palestine and Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
