The Kingdom has submitted director Mohammed Al-Salman’s “Raven Song.” The coming-of-age comedy follows a young man who becomes infatuated with a mysterious woman.

Morocco
Morocco has chosen Maryam Touzani’s “The Blue Caftan.” It tells the story of Halim and Mina, a married couple running a traditional caftan store in one of the country’s oldest medinas.

UK
The UK picked “Winners” by Scotland-based British Iranian director Hassan Nazer. The film is set in a poor Iranian village and follows two children who find a precious statuette in the desert.

Denmark
Denmark has selected “Holy Spider,” director Ali Abbasi’s Iran-set thriller, as its official Oscar entry. Based on a true story, the film revolves around a family man who becomes a serial killer.

Palestine
Maha Haj’s drama “Mediterranean Fever” tackles the dynamics of male friendship and the strain of living under Israeli occupation.

Sweden
Tarik Saleh’s film “Boy from Heaven” is a political thriller about a fisherman’s son who is thrown into a brutal power struggle between Egypt’s religious and political elite.
