TOKYO: The CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development Sultan Al-Marshad on Friday met with Akihiko Tanaka, the CEO of the Japan International Cooperation Agency, in the capital, Tokyo, to discuss the latest developments in cooperation between the two parties, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
During the meeting, they discussed the “Cooperation for Prosperity” initiative, which aims to enhance cooperation in the development field through exchanging expertise and knowledge, and developing the latest tools and means to contribute to achieving sustainable development in countries benefiting from development support.
“Al-Marshad and JICA President Dr. Tanaka discussed means of delivering more impactful development projects, enhancing development efforts, and the upcoming launch of the “Cooperation for Prosperity” initiative,” SFD said in a statement.

The meeting included an introductory tour at the JICA headquarters and training center, during which the delegation met with the agency’s officials, got acquainted with the working mechanism, and listened to a brief presentation of the agency’s most important work.
“The meeting was part of Al-Marshad’s official visit to Japan to bring SFD & JICA together, with the aim of enhancing collaboration to achieve the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals),” the fund said, adding the “SFD delegation was given a tour of JICA HQ, and best practices and operational models were exchanged.”
Al-Marshad said that the initiative to cooperate for prosperity with the JICA will “start next month through the employee exchange program, which is a great opportunity for the two sides to exchange knowledge and best practices in the development field,” SPA reported.
The meeting comes to strengthen relations between the two sides and to activate the memorandum of cooperation with JICA.
