RIYADH: Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghidi, acting secretary-general of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, received Ambassador of Maldives to the Kingdom Mohammed Khaleel, along with his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the ambassador was briefed on the efforts of the coalition to combat terrorism and its financing, including in the media, intellectual spaces and the military.
The envoy expressed appreciation for the coalition’s efforts in partnership with international organizations concerned with countering violent and extremist ideology, and the pioneering role played by the Kingdom in this regard.
The parties also discussed joint cooperation in fighting terrorism.
Saudi Arabia and Maldives enjoy strong brotherly relations.
In June, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with his Maldives counterpart Abdulla Shahid in Riyadh.
During the reception, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries, and discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in all sectors.
They also discussed regional and international developments of common interest to the two nations.
The meeting was attended by the undersecretary for political affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Saud Al-Sati, and the Kingdom’s ambassador to the Maldives, Matrek Abdullah Al-Ajalin Aldosari.
