DUBAI: Actress Kerry Washington stepped out on the gold carpet at the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles wearing a show-stopping gown by Lebanese designer Elie Saab.
The US star championed an off-white minidress with 3D flower details at the shoulder and waist. The dress, which featured a long train, was from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2022 couture collection.
She accessorized her look with black stockings from Austrian brand Wolford, a pair of black Louboutin heels and Bulgari jewelry.
During the star-studded Los Angeles event, “Squid Game” star Lee Jung-jae won the Emmy for best actor in a drama series for his role in the South Korean smash hit, becoming the first person to take the top award for a performance that was not in English.
He bested a crowded field: Jason Bateman for “Ozark,” Brian Cox as the patriarch and Jeremy Strong as his son in “Succession,” Bob Odenkirk for “Better Call Saul” and Adam Scott for “Severance.”
“Thank you to the Television Academy, thank you to Netflix and thank you to the director for making realistic problems we all face come to life so creatively on the screen with a great script,” Jung-jae said as he accepted the award. “Thank you, ‘Squid Game’ team. Thank you to everyone watching in Korea.”
“Succession,” about a media empire run by a grasping and cutthroat family, split drama series honors with “Squid Game.”
Zendaya won the Emmy for best actress in a drama for her role in HBO’s “Euphoria,” becoming the youngest two-time Emmy winner in history.
“Thanks for making such a safe space to make this very difficult show,” said Zendaya, claiming her second best drama actress award for “Euphoria,” about a group of teens’ tough coming-of-age.
“My greatest wish for “Euphoria’ was that it could help heal people. Thank you for everyone who has shared your story with me. I carry them with me, and I carry them with” Rue, her character, Zendaya said.
