Thousands treated for heart ailments in Saudi Arabia’s Jazan

JAZAN: The Heart Center at Prince Mohammed bin Nasser Hospital in Jazan performed more than 1,400 catheterization and cardiac surgeries during the first half of 2022

The center also performed 38 diagnostic catheterization operations for children, including 20 interventional operations to close holes and aortopulmonary connections and expand valves.

It also performed 74 various electrical cardiac interventions — including implanting single and bi-chambered pacemakers, shockwave devices and heart rhythm preservers — and performed 61 open-heart surgeries, including arterial transplantation, valve replacement and vascular interventions.

The Ministry of Health’s branch in Jazan stated that the center’s clinics provided their services to 9,168 beneficiaries in all adult heart clinics and 694 beneficiaries in all pediatric heart clinics.

The center served 6,819 patients in the emergency department and admitted 1,241 patients to the adult cardiac department for the treatment of various heart issues.

It is also recognized as a training center for senior cardiology fellowships.
