RIYADH: The Saudi Sports for All Federation has announced the launch of the “Active” program of youth tournaments and beach games, which will run from August 2022 until March 2023.

It will include eight activities, five of which will take place in public places, while three will be held on the beach in several different cities.

The program targets youth under the age of 18 and their families and aims to increase community participation in sports, improve health and physical fitness, and enhance social cohesion. In addition, it looks to achieve the objectives of the “Quality of Life” program, one of the main initiatives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Shaima Saleh Al-Husseini, SAF managing director, said: “We are pleased that by launching the ‘Active’ program, we will make a forward step in our mission to help build a healthier and happier society. The program will revitalize our efforts to place health and wellness at the forefront of our concerns and contribute significantly to achieving our goal of raising the level of weekly sports and physical activities in the Kingdom to 40 percent by 2030.”

“Active” will be held in seven different cities across the Kingdom, starting in at Baljurashi National Park in Al-Baha from Aug. 11-26, where the tournaments will feature football, basketball and volleyball competitions, among other sports.
