RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman sent a cable of condolences and sympathy to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for victims of a car crash that killed at least 25 near Egypt’s southern province of Minya, the Saudi Press Agency reported early Wednesday.

“We send to Your Excellency, the families of the deceased and the Egyptian people, our deepest and sincere condolences,” the king said, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also sent a similar cable to the Egyptian president.

More than 35 people were also injured in the crash that took place early morning Tuesday when a passenger bus hit a stopped truck along a highway in the city of Malawi in Minya province, about 220 kilometers (137 miles) south of Cairo.

Authorities said the truck was parked by the roadside and the driver was changing its tires when the bus hit it.
