Egypt and Vietnam discuss security, economic ties

Amal Salama, Egypt’s ambassador in Vietnam, met with the country’s Deputy Minister of Defense Senior Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien on Thursday in Hanoi to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations. 

Salama said Vietnam was an important security partner for Egypt including in UN peacekeeping operations in Africa, according to the website of the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense.

Chien proposed that the two countries set up ways to share political, security and socio-economic information, and collaborate on training projects.

The two nations have reportedly been working to enhance trade in textiles, logistics, agriculture, fishing, tourism, seaport management, and gas production.
