CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from the head of the Presidential Council of Libya, Mohammed Al-Menfi, to discuss the Libyan situation.

An Egyptian presidency spokesperson said Al-Menfi had thanked Egypt for its “sincere support” for his country, especially in contributing toward the restoration of national institutions, the unification of the Libyan National Army, and the sharing of redevelopment expertise.

El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s ongoing backing for efforts to secure national reconciliation and reunification in Libya, and both leaders agreed that holding elections and the withdrawal of all foreign forces from the country was the only way to settle the current situation and implement a political settlement.
