The Saudi Arabian weightlifting team won a gold and two silver medals on Monday at the IWF Youth World Championships in the Mexican city of Leon.

Ali Khalitet won gold and silver in the snatch and total weight competitions, while Mohammed Al-Marzouq claimed Saudi Arabia’s second silver medal in the snatch competition in the 61-kilogram category, after lifting 113 kilograms.

The competition, running from June 11 to 18 under the auspices of the World Weightlifting Federation, includes the participation of 205 lifters from 44 countries.

Mohamed Al-Harbi, president of the Saudi Weightlifting Federation, was delighted at the team’s performance.

“So far, we have achieved a gold and two silvers, and we still have strong representation in the tournament, both in the men’s and women’s competitions.”
