RIYADH: Oman Power and Water Procurement Co. plans to attract investments of over $1.25 billion for several projects in the renewable energy and water sector, Oman News Agency reported citing the CEO.
Yaqoub bin Saif Al-Kiyumi added that the firm plans to develop two solar power plants in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, with a total capacity of 1,000 megawatts.
These projects are expected to be awarded before the end of 2022, with private investment estimated at $600 million.
The CEO revealed that OPWP plans to allocate around $300 million in wind energy projects to be established in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali in the South Sharqiyah Governorate and the Wilayat of Duqm in the Al Wusta Governorate.
The projects align with the Oman Vision 2040, prioritizing preserving the environment, reducing carbon emissions and generating job opportunities for youth.
