Hisham Al-Aali is a Saudi professional who is a key player in the region’s startup scene and technology sector. He is currently the vice president of human resources and shared services at Nana, the largest digital grocery shopping platform in Saudi Arabia, leading his scope in KSA, Egypt and Dubai since January 2022.
Al-Aali’s objectives include leading Nana’s business transformation and cultural reshaping to build an organization that thrives organically and can adapt to changes in the market.
Al-Aali obtained his bachelor’s degree in finance from Suffolk University, Boston in 2009 and his master’s degree in business administration from Shenandoah University, Winchester, Virginia in 2011. He also completed a summer exchange program — as part of the MBA degree — at the University of Oxford in 2011.
Prior to his current position, he worked as an HR director at Sary, a business-to-business marketplace that connects small businesses with wholesalers and lenders in the Kingdom and Egypt, between February 2021 and January 2022.
Between July 2019 and February 2021, Al-Aali was HungerStation’s HR director in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Bahrain. He was tasked with revamping the HR capabilities, leading employer branding and enhancing the employee experience.
Al-Aali also worked at the Royal Commission for AlUla as the head of talent acquisition between December 2018 and July 2019.
He worked as an HR director at the Center of Spending Efficiency between April and December 2018, where he was in charge of activating all HR and admin functions and spearheading the strategic and operational HR part to ensure the growth of the center.
Al-Aali worked at the Public Investment Fund as an assistant manager in the human capital department between October 2017 and March 2018, where he was tasked with talent acquisition, launching HR strategic projects and implementing best practices for sustainable growth.
