TotalEnergies and Altaaqa Alternative Solutions (a Zahid Group company) have signed an MoU to cooperate in delivering integrated electric vehicle charging stations across the Kingdom.
The two companies will work together — under the “Altaaqa EV” brand name — to offer end-to-end comprehensive solutions for the development of charging infrastructure for EVs.
Altaaqa EV will submit responsive proposals to both prime contractors and end-users, providing them with comprehensive EV charging station solutions.
“Combining TotalEnergies’ global know-how in the EV charging business and technology with Altaaqa’s commercial and operational excellence in the power generation sector will ensure that the Saudi Arabian EV market has access to the highest international standards of quality and safety,” a statement said.
This cooperation comes on the heels of the Kingdom’s recently unveiled Green Initiative and is aligned with Vision 2030’s renewable energy goals that encourage the move toward EVs and the deployment of associated charging solutions.
The transition to green, environmentally friendly forms of transportation requires the creation of the right market conditions for the take-up of EVs and development of associated EV charging infrastructure. The cooperation between TotalEnergies and Altaaqa will cater to the rapidly growing demand in this sector.
“We are very pleased to partner with Zahid Group and its subsidiary Altaaqa. Our two groups are joining forces to start addressing the Saudi Arabian electric mobility market. It’s a great opportunity to be committed to the transition toward a more sustainable land transportation in Saudi Arabia,” said Pierre Clasquin, vice president — EV charge division, TotalEnergies.
Majid T. Zahid, group president — energy at Zahid Group, added: “Zahid Group and TotalEnergies have worked together for over 15 years and have a strong partnership via joint ventures in various energy-related categories ranging from renewable energy to lubricants.
“The announcement of this new agreement will reassure automotive retailers and end-users across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As they transition toward electric vehicles, they can rely on TotalEnergies’ state-of-the-art EV charging solutions and Altaaqa’s technical expertise and operational excellence.”
TotalEnergies has a growing portfolio of charging networks in key cities around the world, including France, Netherlands, Belgium, the UK, China and Singapore. All of these developments are in line with the company’s ambition to become a world-class player in electric mobility.
