MARIB: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has distributed more than 112 tons of Ramadan food baskets to needy families in Marib governorate, Yemen, benefiting 6,300 people.

KSRelief also distributed nearly 159 tons of this aid for impoverished families in Al-Mahrah governorate, benefiting 8,910 people.

More than 900,000 individuals in 19 countries are expected to receive support through the Saudi Ramadan Eta’am initiative, which aims to send out a total of 156,993 food parcels, weighing 8,430 tons. The project is an extension of the Kingdom’s international aid operations, carried out by KSRelief.

Meanwhile, KSRelief recently held an introductory workshop in Aden governorate on ways to provide individual education for people with disabilities in three Yemeni governorates.

It is part of a project to develop and build local capacity for literacy programs and assist people with disabilities.

Those who participated in the workshop included 70 specialists in the field of training and education for people with disabilities and special needs.

The center also launched in Aden governorate an awareness campaign on ways to care for people with disabilities, which included a silent theatrical performance, display of traditional costumes, and the presentation of motivational stories.

Worldwide, KSRelief has implemented 1,940 projects worth nearly $6 billion in 80 countries, in cooperation with 175 local, regional and international partners since the inception of the center in May 2015.

According to a recent KSRelief report, the countries and territories that benefited the most from the center’s various projects were Yemen ($4 billion), Palestine ($368 million), Syria ($325 million) and Somalia ($213 million).
