Finland selects brokers to liquidate its $75m Bitcoin hoard

RIYADH: Finland has selected two brokers to sell $75 million worth of confiscated bitcoins held by its authorities, Bloomberg reported. 

The brokers are scheduled to sell cryptocurrencies during the spring and early summer, Finnish Customs said in a statement on Thursday. 

The customs said it has 1,981 Bitcoins and will sell 1,890 of them now. 

The Finnish government is considering donating a part of the proceeds to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia’s invasion, Newspaper Helsingin Sanomat reported on Wednesday. 

The customs launched its tender in July for brokers interested in helping convert digital assets into hard currency, according to Bloomberg.
