RIYADH: Egypt’s Ministry of Local Development provided 16.2 billion Egyptian pounds ($874 million) since the beginning of the current fiscal year to implement development projects, the country’s Cabinet reported on Tuesday.
Of this amount, 8.4 billion Egyptian pounds was invested during the third quarter of the current investment plan of the ministry 2021/2022, which ended last March, the statement added.
Minister of Local Development Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Shaarawy said that the funds were directed to support the urgent needs of the governorates.
It also involved the implementation of local development programs, including extending electricity networks, lighting, roads and environment projects, security, firefighting and traffic management.
