RIYADH: Cars account for 47 percent of Egypt’s durable goods imports, Al-Arabiya reported, citing official data.
Car imports amounted to $3.57 billion in 2021, up from $2.76 billion in 2020, reflecting an increase of around 29 percent.
Additionally, imports of refrigerators and freezers totaled $209 million in 2021 when compared to 2020’s $142 million, representing an increase of around 46.4 percent, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, also known as CAPMAS.
In total, durable consumer goods imports in the African country amounted to $7.87 billion last year, up from $6.27 billion in 2020, reflecting an increase of about 26.6 percent.
