A new Arab film festival is coming to Hollywood

The inaugural edition of the Hollywood Arab Film Festival is set to take place from April 25 to 30 as part of the celebration of Arab Heritage Month. The five-day event will offer Arab filmmakers the opportunity to gather, showcase and create their work. Read on for some of the films that will be screening during the festival.

  • ‘Neighbours’

    Kurdish-Swiss director Mano Khalil depicts the absurdity of war as seen through the eyes of a six-year-old boy living in a village on the Turkish-Syrian border.

  • ‘Trapped’

    Directed by Manal Khaled, the film revolves around three different women, all from different walks of life whose destinies are linked during the 2011 Egyptian revolution.

  • ‘It’s a Wonderful Day’

    This film, directed by filmmaker Neveen Shalaby, features a set of interlocking stories about relationships, raising issues about understanding between spouses.

  • ‘Fragile’

    An Egyptian woman plans to emigrate to her family in Canada but faces many obstacles and challenges during her final days in the country in this Ahmed Rashwan-directed film.

  • ‘Abu Saddam’

    Directed by Nadine Khan, this film tells the story of an experienced truck driver and his new assistant who face more than they expected on the road together.

  • ‘Elektra, My Love’

    Set in Beirut, Hisham Bizri’s film recounts three days in the life of five actresses trying to revive the ghostly Piccadilly Theater.
