DUBAI:  The Saudi Arabian embassy in Kiev said it was following up on the case of a Saudi national who has been detained by the country on security grounds, Al-Arabiya TV reported.

The embassy further said it was in close contact with Ukrainian authorities to ensure the Saudi citizen was safe.

It added that it had been working on implementing a plan to evacuate Saudis stuck in the country under the guidance of the Kingdom’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

The embassy said work was underway to find safe corridors through which Saudi citizens can cross from conflict zones to neighboring countries.

The United Nations has recorded 1,207 civilian casualties in Ukraine since the war began on Feb. 24. Of those, at least 27 are children. At least 42 youngsters have been wounded.
