CAIRO: Egypt’s economy grew by 9 percent in the second half of 2021, the highest rate in more than 20 years, said Finance Minister Mohamed Maait.
Unemployment decreased by 7.4 percent due to the expansion of mega projects, he added.
“We succeeded in reducing the total budget deficit by 50 percent during the past five years, and we aim to reach 6.7 percent in June compared to 7.4 percent last June,” he said, adding that Egypt aims to reach less than 6 percent budget deficit in the next fiscal year.
