RIYADH: The total revenue generated from services provided by the UAE’s federal government amounted to 26 billion dirhams ($7 billion) in 2021, the Finance Ministry’s undersecretary told Emirates News Agency.

Younis Al-Khoori said revenue generated from e-Dirham, a payment tool, added to over 14.3 billion dirhams.

He said the federal general budget for 2022 is estimated at around 59 billion dirhams.

Commenting on the introduction of a federal corporate tax from June 2023, the official said it is part of the UAE’s economic policies to diversify sources of income, promote economic growth and attract investment.

Last month, the UAE announced a 9 percent corporate tax to support startups and small businesses.
