ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday condemned a drone attack launched by Yemen’s Houthi rebels to target the King Abdullah Airport in Jazan, Saudi Arabia, the Pakistani foreign office said.
The Iran-backed Houthi militia has repeatedly targeted vital installations, including airports, in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in flagrant violations of the international laws.
The latest drone attack targeting the Jazan airport caused injuries to civilians and material losses.
“Such attacks not only violate international law but also threaten peace and security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the region,” the Pakistani foreign office said in a statement.
“Pakistan calls for immediate cessation of these attacks,” it said, wishing speedy recovery to those wounded in the attack.
Islamabad reaffirmed its full support and solidarity with Saudi Arabia against any threats to its security and territorial integrity, the statement added.
Earlier this month, the Yemen-based Houthi rebels also targeted the Abha airport in Saudi Arabia.
At least 12 people were injured by shrapnel at the airport after the Saudi air defenses intercepted an explosive-laden drone.
